AUSTIN- State Representative Eddie Lucio III, D-Brownsville, has agreed to author legislation allowing families of fallen officers to be able to make a victim's impact statement before prosecutors accept any plea bargain or strike any deal with criminals who kill Texas peace officers.
"This is a great law and order bill and would allow the voices of families of fallen officers to be heard prior to any decision of leniency or plea bargaining regarding a murder or death of an officer", said Charley Wilkison, CLEAT Director of Public Affairs.
