Love of a Son

Love of a Son
On July 20, 1994, Sgt. Rudy Tabbutt retired from the El Paso Police Department after twenty one years of service to the citizens of El Paso Texas. Sgt. Tabbutt started working as the Law Enforcement teacher at Socorro High School. During his time on the police department, he was married to Martha Silva Tabbutt and has been for thirty seven years.
Sgt. Tabbutt also has three children Randy, Sarah, and Edward. While on P.D. Randy always saw his dad in his costume as he called the police uniform. Randy went to Bel Air High School (El Paso, TX) and took the Law Enforcement class under retired Detective John Seglig. After a few years at UT El Paso he joined the El Paso Sheriffs Department as a Detention Officer. Randy then became a Deputy in 1995 with Sheriff Leo Samaniego, allowing his dad to pin on his badge.
After two years at Socorro HS, Rudy Tabbutt moved to the Criminal Justice program at Montwood High School. While at Montwood, Rudy worked as a Sheriffs reversist unit under Hut Brown.
In 2003 Rudy had to go on kidney dialysis because of kidney failure. After several operations and many hours of dialysis with his family by his side, Rudy was placed on a kidney donation list. On November 2006, Randy asked what it would take to donate a kidney. After contacting the El Paso Transplant Center, Randy started testing to see if he could donate a kidney to his father. In May of 2007 everything started coming together. After the Transplant Center said that Randy was a match, an appointment was made for the transplant for July 26th. The transplant went well and Rudy and Randy are recovering at home. Randy donated a kidney for the love of his father and his father appreciates the love of his son.
Rudy and Randy want to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at DeVita dialysis Center. Also deserving a thanks are the nurses and staff at Sierra Medical Hospital for caring for them while at the hospital. Dad and son want to thank their wife’s (Martha & Eden) and all family members that had special prayers, for all to go well. A well deserved thanks to all deputies and police officers that had Rudy and Randy in their prayers.
There is a special thanks to GOD that has taken care of Rudy and Randy.
